Committee Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities of QIC

The Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) functions as a key institutional body committed to promoting a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative activities of the constituent institution.

In accordance with Circular No. 37 of 2020, the Institutional Quality Assurance Committee (IQAC) at the constituent level has been renamed as the Quality Improvement Cell (QIC).

The QIC performs the following key roles:

  • Strategic Quality Planning: Actively coordinates with institutional committees such as the Programme Review Committee (PRC) to plan, implement, and monitor quality initiatives proposed by the University/IQAC/QMB.
  • Policy Implementation: Ensures timely and effective implementation of procedures, policies, manuals, and guidelines issued by the University/IQAC/QMB from time to time.
  • Data-Driven Evaluation: Analyzes trends and evaluates quarterly data against defined benchmarks and targets, supporting informed decision-making and institutional planning.
  • Audit Facilitation: Coordinates and supports the conduct of AQAR, Quality, Academic, and Administrative Audits as scheduled by the University/QAC/QMB.
  • Process Review and Improvement: Reviews institutional and departmental (non-financial) process flows, records improvements, and recommends enhancements for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Continuous Internal Assessment: Conducts periodic internal assessments to identify gaps, track persistent issues, and facilitate timely closure of gaps through documented evidence.
  • Feedback Analysis and Action: Works closely with institutional feedback committees to analyze student and stakeholder feedback on a quarterly or semester basis and generate actionable insights for continuous improvement.

Meetings and Reporting

  • The Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) convenes at least once every semester, with meetings typically scheduled during Q1 (June–August) and Q3 (December–February), following predefined agenda points.
  • For each quarterly meeting, the QIC prepares a structured agenda and reviews the Plan of Action (PoA) approved at the beginning of the academic year. Progress against the defined quality objectives is monitored, Minutes of Meetings (MoM) are documented, and action items are tracked. The Institute IQAC/QMB subsequently reviews the implementation status and evaluates the achievement of the planned quality goals, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous quality improvement.
